In an article published in a recent edition of Personnel Today, several top HR Directors were asked for their views of how the HR function might look in the year 2020. Interestingly, the majority view was that transactional processes would by then either be outsourced, or performed by line management and employees utilising self service functionality.
Transact HR believe that this is a perfectly valid viewpoint, but organisations should not underestimate the money and effort that needs to be spent validating and streamlining transactional processes before they are in manageable state to be outsourced or operated by employees and managers.
Outsourcing a problem area only causes a bigger problem in the long run, we believe.
Some companies may realise that their current HR/Payroll system is not up to the job of operating in this brave new world, as ideally you need a web based system with self service functionality at it's core to fully realise the benefits you are striving for.
