4th Jan, 2010 to 4th Mar, 2010
Article from Financial Director magazine - January 2010
In an article in the above publication, Robert Jaques reviews the state of I.T. investment in the current economic climate, and predicted trends for the forthcoming year. It is noted that spending on business intelligence has actually increased recently as this is an area that can demonstrate very rapid return on investment.
Market intelligence company IDC predicts that 2010 will see a 'recovery and transformation' point reached within businesses when I.T. spend is increased to 2008 levels.
Key trends are seen to be 'cloud' computing - where processing power and applications are 'rented' over the internet from third party providers, and an increase in mobile computing - using tablets, smart phones and netbooks which are set to take over from traditional desktop PCs.
Advanced business analytics is seen as essential to harvest data from multiple sources and produce complex simulation and analysis models that can be used to optimise the efficiency of business processes.
At Transact HR we concur with the views in this article and would add that is it vital that businesses look at their business processes and ensure they are mapped and modelled to be as efficient as possible, and able to leverage the benefit provided by new technologies and working methods.
We strongly believe that business analytics are vital to analysing data on your current process efficiencies and inefficiences, and understanding the volumes of transactional activities your processes and systems need to support.
