Lean is a relatively new technique more suited to Transactional Services such as HR, Payroll and Pensions administration. Lean Six Sigma techniques as the words suggest are designed to reduce the significant amounts of non-value adding activities in HR transactional processes. In an industry where employment law and government legislation dictate a great deal of the transactions and processes that occur, lean techniques focus on those HR activities that are not important in the eyes of the customer and set out to reduce or eliminate them completely.

Lean Six Sigma techniques are used to identify and measure the waste and waiting in HR processes showing exactly where the bottle necks and back logs occur for each step of the process.
